Nine injured as Wapda van overturns in Mian Chunnu



MIAN CHANNU: 23,MAY,2019: At least nine Wapda employees were sustained injuries when a van overturns near Karamat Mor in Mian Channu on Thursday.

According to details, the incident occurred due to the over-speeding.

After being informed, the rescue teams have rushed to the spot and shifted to the hospital for medical treatment.

GUJRANWALA: 23,MAY,2019: Uncle killed and nephew injured in firing over family dispute in Alipur Chatha area of the city on Thursday.

According to details, the incident occurred over family dispute claimed the life of uncle and nephew sustained injuries.

The deceased named Jahanzaib came to resolve the dispute, SSP said.

However, the body and injured have been shifted to the hospital.

Fake accounts case: Zardari not appear before NAB today


ISLAMABAD: 23, MAY/ 2019: Former president and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday excused himself from appearing before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi on the pretext of busy schedule in the ongoing investigation into the fake bank accounts case.  

Meanwhile, the former president wrote a letter to the NAB, stating that he could not appear today due to busy schedule, and asked it to manage another date for him.  

The bureau had summoned him in an inquiry pertaining to illegal allotment of land by Sindh government and misuse of powers.  

On May 15, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted him and his sibling Faryal Talpur in all of the cases against them.  

The high court granted Zardari interim bail in the money laundering case until May 29.

Lawyer gets 18 years in prison for attacking civil judge



FAISALABAD: A lawyer was sentenced to 18 years and six months in prison on Thursday byan anti-terrorism court for attacking a civil judge.

Sentencing advocate Imran to a prison term, the anti-terrorism court also fined him Rs250,000. 

According to police, advocate Imran threw a chair at senior civil judge Khalid Mahmood Warriach on April 25 during an argument in court.

The judge suffered a head injury as a result of the attack.

Judges had protested against the attack, following which advocate Imran was arrested by the police and a case was filed against him in the anti-terrorism court.

Younus Dagha removed as finance secretary


ISLAMABAD: The government on Thursday removed Finance Secretary Younus Dagha, sources informed Onlineindus 
According to sources, Dhaga had developed differences with Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance Dr Hafeez Shaikh during negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). 
Dhaga had not been consulted by the finance adviser during the recent talks with IMF, sources further said.
Cabinet Secretary Naveed Kamran Baloch has been appointed as the new finance secretary while Maroof Afzal has been appointed the new cabinet secretary.
Dagha has been directed to report to the Establishment Division.
Dagha’s removal comes a day after Haroon Sharif resigned from his post as Board of Investment Chairman. 
Sharif had taken over from Naeem Zamindar who had been appointed to the post in by the previous Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government.
